Product Description

Product Description

There is more to success than having a high IQ. Emotion plays its part too and this is belatedly but increasingly being recognised by the business world. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and apply knowledge created by our emotions in order to aid our day-to-day abilities, like building trust and enhancing our decision making. This book pays special attention to presenting the business case for emotional intelligence and draws on all the most up-to-date research. This book will enable you to: improve your leadership qualities and customer facing skills through increased self-awareness; analyse your own behaviour in difficult situations, helping you to generate foresight rather than hindsight about it; manage your own and others' emotionally intelligent development; and, improve your staff's commitment and increase productivity. This book has been fully updated for the 2002 In a Week series relaunch.

About the Author

Jill Dann is a one-to-one individual and organisational consultant. She has designed emotional intelligence training in a variety of business settings throughout the world, most recently with the Chartered Management Institute and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical overview for busy execs, 7 Dec 2002
By Andy Smith "NLP trainer - practicaleq.com" (Manchester, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

This book, like others in the 'In a Week' series, is aimed
at managers who need to brush up on subjects and develop their skills in the briefest possible time.

As a brief and practical introduction to Emotional
Intelligence, Jill Dann's book succeeds admirably. It gives
a brief overview and then covers becoming more self-aware,
generating an 'internal observer', stress management,
and creating an Emotional Intelligence culture within a
company.

The book combines practical advice with useful exercises.
Having met Jill Dann when she attended our recent Time Line
Therapy(tm) practitioner training, I can confirm that she
obviously practises what she preaches.

This is the best short overview of Emotional Intelligence
that I have seen, and contains more useful material than
many much longer and more expensive books.
