Product Description

Product Description

Dr Gordon Livingston has been a psychiatrist since the 1960s, and has heard from his patients the whole spectrum of those things in life that work and that don't work - and the limitless ways in which we are capable of inflicting unhappiness on ourselves.

Out of this lifetime of experience he has extracted thirty bedrock truths, amongst them 'We are what we do', 'Only bad things happen quickly', 'We are afraid of the wrong things' and 'Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid'.

Gordon believes that we all have a wonderful capacity to face loss, misfortune and regret, and that it is never too late to move beyond them and find greater happiness. This profound and incisive book of collected wisdoms and deceptively simple truths will encourage and inspire you to seek and recognise the best in your life - to realise that it is never too late to find your greatest happiness, and how to go about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thought provoking book, 23 Jan 2009
By Aidan Matthews (ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a short book easy to read yet contains a lot of wordly knowledge. The book is divided to 30 short chapters sometimes no more then 3 or 4 a pages, which allows the reader to read the entire book or re read again a short chapter which the reader might have an affiliation with. The chapters are divided into specific topics which after reading the author allows you to accept or reject what he has written. These short chapters deliver in some case some earth shattering knowledge in other chapters no more then a humourous anecdote is all that is delivered.I think this is a wonderful book which I will cherish and think there is something for everyone in it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gives you the chance to take back you life. , 29 Aug 2008
By Daniel Storey "Book_Worm_Daniel" (Rochester, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A spiritually rewarding book that takes you on a journey of 30 thought provoking chapters about life, love and happiness.
The author a twice-bereaved parent speaks openly about his life works and the loss of his two sons.
The book doesn't give solutions to life's problems,it gives an insight in to how to help you adapt to an ever-changing world.
The crucial message this book gets across is it is never too late to change you life no matter what stage in it you are at.
The other message this book strongly gives out is no matter what pain and suffering you have been though life will always be about living, learning and growing.
If you can't buy this book then try to borrow it from a library as it will enhance your spiritual awareness and give you the power to take back your life.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange - but true!, 30 Jul 2006
By S. Thomson "pip-thomson" (Sunny Surrey, U.K) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An odd book. My daughter (age 15) asked me to get it for her. I did. I read it. Learned nothing I didn't already know. But it is a good reminder of basic things which help the world turn - calmly and normally. Sadly, we don't remember to do the things Dr Livingston suggests - most of the time. A book of 'reminders' rather than a book 'teaching' us anything new. But nonetheless, a good book maybe to keep in the bathroom!
