Product Description

Product Description
There are no easy answers to children and sleep problems but this excellent book will help with some of your worst nightmares! The issue of how well, or little, a baby or child sleeps is obviously an important one for the busy, tired parent but sleeping habits, routines and attitudes are also important for the child's well being. This new addition to the popular Parentalk Guides provides a light-hearted explanation of the different ways to help your child sleep well and and encourages parents to trust their instincts and make changes that suit their situation: Should my child have a regular bedtime? What can I do to banish those nightime fears? Should I let my child cry? Is it sensible to let our child sleep with us? How do I cope with endless demands for drinks of water? And much more...

About the Author
Kate Daymond has been a Health Visitor for ten years in London and in St Albans, Hertfordshire. She has developed a special interest in children's sleep problems and has two young children on which to practise her theories.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is really practical, down to earth stuff, 24 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This book cuts out lots of theory and comes up with really practical advice for how to get your child to sleep without making you feel like you are a bad parent - you are totally in control and you can get your child to sleep better. I wish all parenting guides were so realistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars at last...someone who has been there and done it!, 21 Jun 2001
By A Customer
We all know a disturbed nights sleep is awful but when your child is almost one and it dosen't look like there is an end in sight you do get desperate, Kate Daymond wrote this book with those of us in mind. Forget the tortures of controlled crying first she advocates keeping a diary seeing where the problem lies and then how to deal with it, I wish she was my health visitor/next door neighbour/sister/best friend....

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for every bleary-eyed parent, 13 Mar 2003
By A Customer
Having a 7 month baby who cried nearly all day, and was only happy when tucked in our bed was driving me slowly mad. I read this book, and it gave me the much needed confidence to pluck up the courage to introduce our daughter to her nursery.
I had felt like a really bad mother leaving her alone in her room because with all previous attempts she screamed like a banshee, and I couldn't stand it.
I read through the book, and decided on the technique that would perhaps work with her and do you know it didn't even take a WEEK to get her settled. She now has slept through the night for 3 nights running. Her character has changed dramatically, she is a happier baby, and I am no longer climbing the wall!
This book is a Godsend. I just wish I had read it earlier!
