5.0 out of 5 stars Flaky and Light is quite wrong, 28 Jun 2005

I read the book and I read the review 'Flaky and Light.'
I can't agree with the patronising light weight criticism. The Jung book helped me to understand concepts that were difficult. The books are called Beginners Guides and are most helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Really interesting and informative, easy to read., 26 April 2000

i have always been interested in psychology, and i wanted to find out about Jung, but i was put off by a lot of books that used long words. What an interesting character he was.The book made him seem like a real person was not boring at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flaky and Light, 1 Mar 2005

Although it gives a fairly well rounded look at the basics of Jung's work, the book has too much of a glib, patronising nature to it and the author writes from the "airy fairy" type of new age perspective. If you want this kind of thing there are plenty of Jung pages on so called new age and pseudo-spiritual websites that will give the same information and for free.

I'd recommened "The Essential Jung: Selected Writings" from Anthony Storr, and, although it's heavier going, it gives a far deeper insight into what Jung's work is about (seeing that the bulk of it is written by him).

5.0 out of 5 stars Not academic- but that is the point
This book may seem light weight to those who want a heavy tome of in-depth analysis but as the title says- it is a BEGINNER'S GUIDE. Read more
