The sequel to 'Rough Justice', although a decent enough novel in its own right, is a bit of a disappointment when compared to its predecessor. DI Madeleine Fox is called in to investigate the death of French Kitty, a young woman who has apparently died while being a willingly submissive participent in a kinky sex game gone wrong. But when the evidence leads DI Fox to believe that the woman's death is suspicious, Fox has to take a journey into the seamy underground of London's S and M clubs to find the woman's killer. The trail she follows will involve jealous lovers, hired assassins and a politician who will do anything to hide any links he may have to the dead bondage queen.

I'm not sure why, but this second Maddy Fox book didn't grab me as much as the first. I think it was partly because she wasn't working with DCI Marenko this time around, and the novel could have sorerely done with his inclusion. Here's hoping Maddy will return to solve more crimes in a third novel.
