Product Description

Product Description

Laura and Alex Carter are beautiful 18-year-old identical twins, too glamorous for the rundown seaside hotel where they live. Then Laura is found dead, her wrists slashed, a signed suicide note beside her. It's tragic - but straightforward. Until the twin who's alive claims she is Laura.

5.0 out of 5 stars A finely plotted novel, 15 Dec 2000
By A Customer
A very finely plotted, page-turning novel. The heroine is, as the publishers, promise, strong and sassy and also very down to earth. The murder story unfolds, layer by layer - so complicated that at times you are deeply confused, particularly because it deals with twins and a play on which one has been murdered. The story is simply and lucidly written and keeps you flicking the pages. There is also a love interest woven into the background too - and a very sexy (but not cliche) hero. I didn't enjoy this as much as 'The Secret History' - this is more of a brain-teaser than a murder story of deep psychological depth. But all in all very brilliant and definitely a crime novel for twentysomethings if you are tired of jaded Ian Rankin novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want to marry Jack myself, 25 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Seaside (Hardcover)
This is one of the best books i have ever read, and i managed to finish it a few hours. Scarlett Thomas describes everything so well that you can imagine it. And i'm sure everyone wants a Jack of their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC, 7 April 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Seaside (Hardcover)
Super cooool! Why isn't Scarlet famous? She will be...Pacy. Racy and so moderne...Enough twists, both to the genre and in the plot, to keep the most jaded reader carried away in the most entertaining way...A fan? Can't wait for the next one...Why don't her publishers give her a huge push? Best seller material...

It's criminal that this book is classified as a crime novel. Not that I've anything against the genre, but too many people have. Read more
