Product Description

Jonathan wakes up in hospital and is told he has been involved in a car crash. He doesn't remember the last three months, and the doctors say he's only been there three days. He also doesn't remember the woman by his bedside who says she is his wife, but she has the pictures that seem to prove it.

4.0 out of 5 stars even better on re-reading, 5 April 2000
By A Customer
The dark atmosphere, excellent characterisation and totally natural supernatural of this thriller made me race to the end first time around. The second time it was even better. By not racing I was able to appreciate the detail that gives this book such a strong sense of place and reality. Dwellers of a certain North Eastern town can location spot too if they feel inclined!

5.0 out of 5 stars very enjoyable; stretches the imagination; realism & what if, 9 Dec 1999
By A Customer
I have read a number of Brenchley's books because they combine realism with what if ? scenarios. They stretch the imagination to consider possibilities beyond everyday experience without becoming just fantasy stories. The story of Dispossession is real as are the characters, but the extra-sensory elements make this book different and well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars A gripping read, 7 Dec 1999
By A Customer
I am not usually a thriller fan, but am always interested when I'm told of one that has a strong psychological angle or central relationship as well as the expected suspense/mystery/surprises and set-piece plot devices. Chaz Brenchley's 'Dispossession' has all this and some excellent rendering of place and atmosphere. I was uneasy at first with the supernatural element, but soon found the avenging angel adrift in a hostile world of materialism, selfishness and greed an attractive if disturbing character. Well worth a read whether you are a thriller enthusiast or not.
