Product Description
Synopsis
Aromatherapy is a growing form of complementary therapy in the UK and USA, and is rapidly being employed by nurses and other health care professionals in hospital, hospice and community settings. Written by a nurse for nurses, this text highlights how clinical aromatherapy could enhance nursing care and the role of a nurse. Buckle explores applications in 11 departments including immunology, paediatrics and endocrinology. She discusses the implications of essential oils becoming prescribed items, and covers pharmacokinetics and the use of essential oils with orthodox medications. She also explains the difference between different types of aromatherapy and shows how this complementary therapy could become part of a nursing diagnosis or be seen to be part of nursing theory. There is an in-depth section covering infection, pain, inflammation, nausea and insomnia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and informative, 22 Nov 2002
This book is a must for any nurse practising aromatherapy in a care setting.
It is fully comprehendable and offers advice on different specialised departments and the use of aromatherapy within.
The book is actually written by a nurse who has first hand experience.
