Amazon.co.uk Review

In Molly Moon Stops the World, the irrepressibly plucky Molly discovers a superpower more amazing than the hypnosis that inspired Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism. Molly Moon Stops the World begins with our 11-year-old heroine back at the newly improved orphanage in Brierville. A disturbing meeting with Lucy Logan (Molly's guardian librarian from the last book) changes everything--Molly must stop a megalomaniac master hypnotist named Primo Cell from taking over the world. Many elaborate setups and silly reversals of fortune ensue, as Molly and Rocky hunt the villainous Cell. The duo discovers that things are even more dire than expected (could this evil genius really be running for president?), and Molly soon stumbles on an amazing ability: she can stop time.

It's hard to resist the obvious fun that Byng's having here, as the story takes countless twists amidst frantic, page-turning action (older kids will especially enjoy the many wry nods at celebrities and advertising). Molly fans get an extra treat in the book's white-knuckle conclusion: Molly finally learns how she ended up at the orphanage...and the true identity of her parents. The book is recommended for ages 9 to 12. --Paul Hughes, Amazon.com

Product Description

The follow-up novel to Georgia Byng's bestselling debut MOLLY MOON'S INCREDIBLE BOOK OF HYPNOTISM. Molly Moon, the funny-looking orphan who once took Broadway by storm, has vowed never to use her amazing hypnotic powers again. But when she learns that a megalomaniac master hypnotist called Primo Cell is rumoured to be controlling the minds of famous movie stars, she has to intervene. Arriving in Hollywood, Molly, Rocky and Petula the pug get to work. While Petula is being pampered at a beauty parlour for glamorous pooches, Molly and Rocky plan how to blag their way into Primo's famous Oscar-night party. Here they find that their enemy is far more dangerous and powerful than they suspected. Primo thinks it will be a breeze to control the minds of two kids, but he doesn't know that Molly has discovered an extraordinary new ability. Her hypnotic eyes can actually stop time itself...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review Of Molly Moon By An Eleven Year Old Boy, 29 Sep 2003
By A Customer
This is the best book i have read so far in my life.

This book is very enjoyable however, it was a bit too short and seemed to end suddenly.This book is very exciting and I would highly reccomend it to another reader. Molly Moon is a very intresting book and in my opinion better than the first book.It has a lot of imagination in it altogether and children/adults who enjoy fantasy would love it.The book is about a girl called Molly Moon who has daring adventures with her friend Rocky. However, it had a few ideas from other books like-The Wheel Of Time,or The Rope Maker.

I think it is similar to Oliver Twist.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brill!, 15 Feb 2004
By Marissa (London) - See all my reviews
I think this book is absolutely fantastic – a brill sequel to the first in the series of two. Molly is a very ambitious girl, in which in the previous book, hypnotised her way into being a Broadway star. In this book, she accidentally finds out how to stop time, and it changes her life forever. Still accompanied by Rocky and her pug, Petula, this fast paced adventure reveals the following things;
-Who her real mum & Dad are
-How she got into a care home
-What the REAL purposes of crystals are
-And who Lucy Logan REALLY is!
I urge you to buy this fast paced, wicked book – And fall under Georgia Byng’s spell!

I am seven and I thought this was a brilliant book. Apart from Molly, one of my favourite characters is Petula the Pug.
