5.0 out of 5 stars Famishing, 12 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Following on from his other remarkable histories, Fernandez-Armesto has excelled himself in the arena of the foodies.

Yet this this is not a key 'bites' read into the latest London foodish fad, and moreover will not become splattered on the kitchen worktable.

Food is a book for thought and is led by an anthropological enquiry into the basis of human fuel.

It is an incisive, enlightening read - a cooking person's Boethius.
