Product Description

Tony Gillam, Mental Health Today

'It covers just about everything you might want to know about psychological interventions.'

Product Description

The treatment of people with schizophrenia has undergone dramatic changes since the 1970s. Approaches to care, collectively known as psychosocial interventions, have emerged from research which have been shown to reduce symptomatology, relapse and improve quality of life. This book provides an overview and practical guidelines for helping people with schizophrenia using psychosocial interventions. It explains these interventions within the context of current theoretical understanding of the aetiology, presentation and prognosis of the illness.

5.0 out of 5 stars a nurse's psychosocial bible, 28 Jun 2004
By john gehlhaar (Manchester, England) - See all my reviews
This is a great introduction for all workers in the field of mental health, attempting to work collaboratively with people experiencing schizophrenia.
It is well compiled with a wide range of issues addressed in a pragmatic and realistic way, written by practitioners with the experience of working, not just talking about, these issues.
I cannot recommend this book strongly enough and feel that it should be mandatory reading for all students wanting to develop into effective, collaborative practitioners.
Well done Neil!!!!
