Sue Grafton has earned herself quite a following as a result of her alphabetic crime novel series, and reading this exceptionally well-written and well-paced literary crime novel it's easy to see why. In Kinsey Millhone Grafton has created a refreshing and thoroughly likeable alternative to the scores of hackneyed male detectives that tend to populate the genre. The characterization as a whole is terrific, and Grafton manages to get the balance between background, description and narrative progression just right. The plot itself is entirely believable, with a few neat twists and turns along the way to keep readers on their toes and ensure that things don't get predictable. This is a definite must-read for all fans of the crime genre and anyone who loves a great storyteller. (Kirkus UK)
