4.0 out of 5 stars very impressive, 1 Dec 2003

No, this is not "just another" Josephine biography. Beautifully written, finely researched, it reads like a novel, and offers a compelling and new insight into the life of a woman overshadowed by her tremendous husband, trend adopted by historians and biographers over the years, until this book. An excellent and juicy read.
