5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very informative, user-friendly book about Ghana, 21 Jul 2000
By A Customer
Being an English-born child of Ghanaian parents, and having never visited Ghana, I decided to buy a book about the country to learn about the country and its history.

It is unbiased in that it covers all the native tribes of Ghana, and explains in great detail their history. Whilst the book does not cover the slave trade extensively, it does not have a biased view. It just explains how the slave trade affected Ghana.

Although the book is set out somewhat as a text book, it is very easy to read and I have found it utterly enjoyable and informative. It also includes titles for suggested reading and has optional exercises at the back which are helpful in assessing how much the reader has learned.

Overall, I found the book to be a great source of information about the country, its people and the economy. It shows Ghanaians in a positive light, as honest, intelligent, hardworking people. It is a book I am proud to have in my collection and will eventually encourage my daughters to read.
