5.0 out of 5 stars Konigsburg makes history interesting., 20 Jan 1998
By A Customer
Eleanor of Aquitane has been waiting in Heaven eight centuries for her second husband, Henry, to come up from his time in Hell. Now that there are enough lawyers in Heaven, Henry finally has a chance to come Up. Eleanor awaits the final judgment with Abott Suger, Henry's mother Matilda-Empress, and William the knight. Pretty soon, their conversation turns to telling about Eleanor's life. Each has a story to tell, including the former Queen of England herself.

This book is not to be missed. E. L. Konigsburg presents the history of the queen in an irresistable, fun manner. It's a pity that there are so few reviews for it here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything is great., 24 April 2004

I'm 10 years old. I really love this book. Eleanor was beautiful bothinside and outside. She loved poetry, music, and art. She was strong andalways fought bravely. She was a pioneer feminist.
I want to live likeEleanor. After 15 years a prisoner of the English Crown, she didn't loseanything. It's the real proud taste I want. Mrs. Konigsburg is Great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven!, 28 Dec 1999
By A Customer
I have been looking for this book for well over 20 years and am ecstatic at having found it at the press of a button. My mother always told me stories of history and got me interested, so when my teacher recommended this book in about 1975 at the International School of Geneva (I nearly called the junior library there to find out if they still have it!), I gobbled it up and it's stayed as my favourite history book ever since - the elegant black cat I had later for many years was named Eleanor in this book's honour. Now I am 35 years old and still love history, with the period prior to 1400 still a top favourite and I'm still reading history books, too, and have passed my love on to my three girls (who think I'm mad, nevertheless, for doing a dance about finding the book again!). Read, enjoy, and remember, our lives are based on history and humour!

Mother-in-laws, Abbot's, Marshal's, and Eleanor of Aquitaine herself, all narrate the life of Queen Eleanor while she patiently awaits the judging of her husband, King Henry II.

2.0 out of 5 stars The book was boring.
The book moved to slowly. There were too many people telling the story of Eleanor's life. I couldn't figure out who "I" was half the time in the story. Read more
