Review
Thea has had enough of being the wife of sexy rock star Toby. She simply wants a normal life but Toby often disappears for days on end without even a phone call to put her mind at rest. So when rumours spread about his affair with an MTV starlet Thea decides that enough is enough.A funny and mischievous take on relationships by the author of Wow!

Product Description
A celebrity wife with integrity? The rock stars don't know what's about to hit them! For Thea, wife of sexy rock od, Toby, life isn't always a ball. OK, so there are some compensations if you like being in the public eye - the occasional ritzy award ceremony or chic music industry bash, and gossipy lunches with the glamorous, if bitchy, wives of other celebs, but on the whole things are surprisingly dull. Particularly if, like Thea, you just want to lead a normal life with the man you love. And even more particularly if the man you love keeps doing a Liam Gallagher and disappearing for days on end, without even a phone call to put your mind at rest. So, when rumours about Toby's affair with an up-and-coming MTV starlet start to get a little out of control, Thea decides enough is enough. It's time to take fate into her own hands, stop being a rockstar's sometime accessory and track down the one man who can prove she's a person in her own right ...With the ferocious wit that made Claudia Pattison's debut novel, WOW!, so compelling, "Fame Game" is a funny and mischievous take on the relationships that define you and proves once and for all that an independent woman is underestimated at man's peril. Praise for WOW! 'The literary equivalent of "Heat" magazine' - - "Independent". 'An unashamed page-turner ...you won't be able to stop reading' - "Hello".

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and sharp - a great read!, 12 Oct 2002
By Emma (Birmingham) - See all my reviews
I adored Claudia Pattison's first book Wow! and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. Fame Game has all the dry wit and bitchy humour we saw in Wow!, as well as some great one-liners, but it's also an unexpectedly sensitive and thought-provoking read. The heroine Thea isn't as tough as Wow!'s Ruby Lake but she's very likeable all the same and I loved her observations on the wacky world of the celebrity wife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Brilliance, 16 Aug 2006
This book is unputtadownable. The story really gripped me, and I needed to know what happenned next. Absolutely Fantastic.

She's got a knack of making the boring bits (you know the ones all books have) interesting. I will be looking forward to rest of her books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wow that was disapointing!!!, 5 Oct 2002
Everyone who, like me, loved Pattison's first book and rushes to buy the Fame Game is probably going to be disapointed. It is not that the book is terrible, far from it, it is just that Claudia Pattison, the author, has become a victim of her first novel, like so many author have done before her. In otherword, we were expecting this novel to be even better than the last one.

Readers probably will find it hard to understand, respect, left alone like, the central character who doesn't have the sparkle of Claudia's previous heroine.
And essentially, this is the novel main weakness: the lack of characters interesting enough to make you care.

In fact, the sub plot, where the character look for her father, is actually what make the book worth reading... A shame that the author didn't developed it better as this would have made a good novel on its own.

Unlike many of the other reviewers, I haven't read 'Wow!' and so can't compare them. However, this book does do quite nicely off it's own back. Read more
