2.0 out of 5 stars Is Kathy Lette on her way out?, 18 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Nip an Tuck (Paperback)
How disappointing this book was! Heroine loses husband, fights for husband, decides husband is no good, falls for man next door (who conveniently happens to be there when her world falls apart). Wouldn't it say something for the strength of women if the main character could leave her dismal marriage without having to fall into the arms of a white knight? To even touch upon that ridiculous ending! All I can say is you have to read it just to shake your head in amazement that this unbelievable surgery scene was not chopped into little bits by the Picador editor.

Other than the wildly absurd plot, Kathy Lette provides her usual suffocation of puns, but the reader can't help but be amused by her style. This is the kind of love-hate relationship you form with some books and can't let go until you get your money's worth.

Please give us better next time, Kathy. This was garbage.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic, funny read not for the faint hearted, 11 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Nip an Tuck (Paperback)
A fantastic mix of scarcasim and tradgedy. For all those women who find talking openly about all our sloppy bodily funtions and hearing tragic gossip about someone worse off than you a good read. Kathy Lette deserves an award in black humour A rip roaring read funny to the last.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too bad to be true, 14 Nov 2001
This review is from: Nip an Tuck (Paperback)
When I started reading the book, it started promising... althought that sentiment didn't last long...
The stamina I had for finishing the book was completely based on frustration because you're constantly screaming at the pages "Do something, you stupid woman !", instead of "Standing by your man".
In the end she does do something (I won't spoil it for the readers, try and finish the book yourselves ;o) but the ending is just too bad to be true...
A truly disappointing read...
