Alexander Frater has switched seamlessly into a new genre. I have followed his travel books with real pleasure. He uses his same colourful attention to detail to bring this wonderful book alive. This is a book that will be enjoyed by everyone, not just those interested in flight. Highly recommended.

I loved the book, great stories and tales about the early pioneers of flight in the UK. Even though I am no expert on aviation, I found the book capitivating and as good as anything Alex Frater has written in the past. Going to read it again!

This is a beautifully written book aimed at the general reader and not just the airplane enthusiasts. As such it brings colour to the lives of these amazing extroverts who risked life and limb to become airborne. Really enjoyable.
