Product Description

Amy's life is not working out the way she always dreamed it would. She's about to turn the dreaded 3-0, her career is going nowhere fast and her love life is not exactly flourishing. To make matters worse, while things are falling apart for Amy, they seem to be coming together for everyone else in her life . . .

Visiting her friend, Jodie, Amy finds that she and Jack, the man she once thought she might marry, have spent the night together. Her younger sister Suzi has just arrived home with her 'Golden Delicious' Australian fiance in tow, and announced their May wedding. And now Amy discovers that her best friend Beth is also planning on tying the knot, and Amy is asked to be bridesmaid. With a sinking heart, she remembers that old saying: always the bridesmaid, never the bride . . . Surely it can't be true?

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the beach, 21 Jul 2004

A huge chick lit fan I was initially tempted to buy this book as its cover was quirky and fun and the title intriguing. I really liked getting to know Amy throughout the book and was sorry when the story ended. If you're looking for soemthing to throw into the suitcase, you could do much worse than choosing this little gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars A laugh out loud romance about the dilemma of turning 30, 31 Aug 2001
This review is from: Always the Bridesmaid (Paperback)
I read and liked the last book by this author 'Three Times a Lady' and this one is even better. It's about Amy who is almost 30 and works in a children's bookshop. When she has to be a bridesmaid twice in one week she's horrified. She meets a nice English guy and . . . Well, I won't ruin it. Good read - funny, thoughtful, great holiday material.

2.0 out of 5 stars A light read but fairly disappointing, 19 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Always the Bridesmaid (Paperback)
Nothing happens in this story that you cannot predict from the first few chapters. I had hoped for a few surprises and maybe the odd twist or two, just to break the predictability.

Amy isn't a particularly likeable heroine and some of the other characters are drawn too thinly for anyone to like or dislike them.

I feel that this book could have benefited from some strong editing. The author commits the cardinal sin of adding adverbs at the end of every line of dialogue. Everything that is said is said "carefully" "kindly" or "levelly". Certainly not a page turner, a light read that does't task the brain too much.
