Product Description

Sunday Times

This highly readable account reminds us how impenetrable the past can be, despite the tantalising glimpses it sometimes offers us.

Sunday Telegraph

Mr Seal is a fantasiser, imagining whole scenes, but he does it with such relish one happily goes along with him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Morwenstow mystery uncovered, 3 Sep 2002
By ALEX ROBINSON (Cheltenham, UK) - See all my reviews
Having visited the graveyard at Morwenstow in North Cornwall, I was delighted that the author has done all the necessary work in order to tell the story of how the figurehead of the Arbroath brig "Caledonia" came to rest here.

Jeremy Seal blends his own modern day detective work with history, as he slowly uncovers vital clues. This is interwoven with a beautifully told story of the ship's final journey that brings the crew "back to life".

4.0 out of 5 stars Misleading, 1 Aug 2009
By William Thurgood - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A great piece of research and a tale expertly told, but why spoil it all by suggesting that the Rev Hawker was up to no good?He gave the drowned sailors a decent burial which would never have happened but for his intervention. There was no treachery and it is shameful to imply that there was.
