Product Description

They thought they had escaped, Ellie and her friends. Airlifted away from the conflict, they thought they'd be free - in spite of everything they'd lost. Three dead; their families still captive. But what they find is a new fear - being asked to go back for the sake of those they'd left behind.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, 28 Nov 2000
By A Customer
"Tommorow when the war began" is, in my opinion, out of the whole series the best. After you've read the book you just want to read the next and the next and so on. He describes every part of the book so well it's almost as if he's been in the same situation Ellie has.(Oh! sorry you probably don't know who ellie is.)Ellie is one of the characters in the book. But I'm not going to say anymore. I'd think John Marsdens Books are more for teenagers than any other age group.

The series is about some kids who go away for week up in the hills of Australia to go camping and they find a place which they call Hell because it is such a beautiful place, in amongst trees and a small creek. They just don't want to leave the place until they run out of food and they have to go back. When they get back to the town called Wirrawee everything is destroyed EVERYTHING! And they just don't know what happened. All they could work out was something bad had happened and the terrible thing is that there is no-one else except themselves. After a few days looking around and trying to find a sign of civilisation they come to find what they did not expect to find in the next town...........! Read on to find out what happens next!

5.0 out of 5 stars A series that just gets better and better, 18 Jan 2000
By A Customer
The first book in the series blew me away, and he just gets better and better. Hauntingly real characters, beautifully written, action packed and very thought provoking. I have yet to read a book by John Marsden that disappoints on any level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 5 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Well this is yet another brilliant book from John Marsden his books are Excellent!!!!! You'd be mad not to start his series containing the books "Tommorow when the war began","A Killing frost","The dead of night","Darkness be my friend","Burning for revenge","The night is for hunting". These books are in sequence and are very much recomended to any reader above the age of 13 years old. This book is about the teenagers in there ever hardening struggle to keep the enemy away from Wirrawee and there struggle to destroy the new heavy duty air base built by the enemy. They have all been told that there parents are o.k by lee but then ellie thinks to ask lee about his parents and she find that his parents were executed by the enenmy. Read on to find out what happens next.
