Product Description

Product Description
Richard is 28 and single. More single than he'd like to be, and not coping well. Since he and Anna split up six months ago he's been trying to find his way again. Longing to be desirable and searching for calm. But things are only getting more out of control.

4.0 out of 5 stars She made me read it!, 7 Feb 2001
By Neil Benson (Richmond, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
My girlfriend is from Brisbane, Australia. The same city as Nick Earls and the eponymous Richard. She laughed out loud all the way home from Oz reading this book, and it wasn't until I read it myself I realised why. The central character, Richard Derrington, is almost ME! Suave, sophisticated, and almost a tennis pro; Earl's central characater is also a tragic, stumbling Generation X guy fumbling his way through to the 21st centrury. Some abolsutely classic moments - watch out for the dog and duck that live in the sofa!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite hilarious, 2 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Nick Earls has created a wonderful character in the recently dumped Richard. He avoids renovating, agonises over his Thai takeaway order and spends way too much time philosophising with his mate Jeff. There's also a wayward shoe, a misunderstood cat attack and an undertalented musical neighbour (and much more).

This book is a highly enjoyable read, with a savage wit and endearing ordinariness. You'll enjoy it (guaranteed!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Words fail me...., 20 April 2001
By A Customer
... so why bother writing a review? I just have to endorse this as one of the most satisfyingly funny read I have enjoyed. More than a book, a best mate, and one who brings a tinnie along with him when he visits. I have to confess that the naked office dancing incident is too close to home for comfort...
