4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, although tragic tale of murder,, 10 Aug 2007

The murder of a child is something most of us try to avoid thinking about. For this very reason, I had avoided this book, even though it had been recommended to me by several people.

Lynda La Plante weaves a tragic tale of a murdered child and the devastation this leaves behind. The characters are complex and not always likable. This is certainly a bleak tale and doesn't make for happy reading. Don't expect to feel particularly happy when you have finished. However, this is an excellent portrayal of the nightmare of child murder and does expose the twisted mind of a killer which may be all too convincing.

Certainly worth a read, although you might feel like a drink afterwards. On the other hand, you might feel like giving your children a big hug and counting your blessings every day.
