He's done it again he has written a brilliant novel "To The Hilt" is non stop action weather its in Scotland or London, Mr Francis seems to captivate you into the book from the time you pick the book up from the time you put it down you are swept away. A top Novel "To The Hilt" is a must read novel, Dick Francis portarays his characters brilliant whether it be Alexander Kinloch or the Earl of Kinloch he seems to give them an extra edge a must read book

For the first time I am slightly disappointed by a Dick Francis book. There is still a strong story (this time featuring a missing trophy and a financial scandal) and some good characterisation, but a few things don't quite hit the mark. For example, the hero quickly comes to like and trust a man named Tobe - why? He seems to be characterised almost entirely in terms of one rather irritating mannerism. And when the hero is being beaten up and asked "where is it" he appears not to know what they're talking about, when it subsequently emerges that he does have something hidden which would surely be the first thing to spring to mind. And I felt the character of the private detective who is a master of disguises was a bit of a cliché. Other than that, this is probably still an above average crime story, with some exciting set pieces (this bunch of villains must have the most unpleasant technique for hurting people yet!)
