3.0 out of 5 stars Danger in the Dolomites, 7 May 2007
By Philippe Horak (Zug, Switzerland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Neil Blair is an unemployed ex-army officer. One day he bumps into his old Battery Commander Derek Engles who offers him several months' well paid work as a script writer. Indeed Engles is now a hard-bitten film director shooting in the Dolomites. To Blair, this seems like the chance of his lifetime and he thinks that his luck has turned at last. What he doesn't know is that the job also means getting caught in a breathtaking adventure with plenty of suspense and drama.
An old fashioned adventure story much in the vein of what Hammond Innes usually wrote.
The book is well read by Patrick Allen for BBC Audiobooks.

This review is from: The Lonely Skier (Hardcover)
World War II is over but Neil Blair can't get a job, so he signs on for another year in the army. After that the prospects are no better till he gets an offer from his old Commander. He is asked to go to an Italian Ski resort to write a film script, but that is not the real objective. He meets with several characters all with one thing on their mind the search for Nazi gold.
