4.0 out of 5 stars A great read - D is a strong character, 23 Oct 2000
By debs.cat@ic24.net (UK, Berkshire) - See all my reviews
I really enjoyed reading this book. D was a guy that you just loved to hate. I spent the whole book unsure whether I wanted him to come out on top or end up in the hands of his enemies.

This is a good book that keeps you hooked until the very end. I collected the set (3 books)but in my enthusiasam to share the written word I lost them to book jackers (people who borrow but never return).

Buy this book if you like your gangsters with a CAPITAL G.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yardie is a fantastic modern day fictional gangster tale, 3 Dec 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Yardie (Paperback)
Yardie is a gripping modern day fictional gangster tale based on a young Jamaican immagrants rise from the streets of London to the top of the drug dealing underworld. Victor Headley has wrote this in such a manor it will, for anyone interested in fictional crime, keep you gripped from start to finish. Yardie is the first story in a 3 book series. The only downside is that victor has not yet wrote the forth!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boy Thim think you is Yardie?, 1 Nov 2003

What a Book, I'm not kidding that I don't read a awfull lot.
The day it arrived, I read 120 pages and finished the last 50 odd the next day. It's an addtive read, which runs your mind though a rollercoaster of emotions. The story seems to drift every now and then, when the main man re-lives his roots.
I'm not going to spoil the end of this story, you don't want it to happen, and you think you can see it coming! Okay it seems to folloe the Scarface type thing, but much much cooler.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Setting / So-So Story
HEADLEY'S DEBUT is more interesting for its portrayal of London's Jamaican immigrant criminal subculture than it's straightforward tale of the rise and fall of one hood. Read more
