3.0 out of 5 stars An unusual but exciting tale, 8 Oct 2004
This review is from: The Silver City (Hardcover)
I resisted reading this book because I am not a fan of science fiction or fantasy. However I am a devotee of Ms. Belle and having read her other books I turned to this one. I found it difficult at first because the names if the characters were different and some of the language unknown. However the glossary provided was helpful and I persevered. I'm glad I did. It is a wonderful love story between Halthris and Ansaryon a royal son of Zithirian and their efforts to save Zithirian from the dreaded Ska'i tribe. As ever Ms. Belle describes strong likable characters and weaves a tale of sorcery, treachery and deceit. I loved it and am looking forward to reading the other books in he trilogy. I grade with 3 stars because of the difficulties stated.

5.0 out of 5 stars a romantic fantasy novel, 10 Dec 1998
By A Customer
I totally loved this book. It is the first in a trilogy. Set in an alien world this book is filled with romance that left me tingling all over with excitement. The lead character is Halthris, who is part of a tribe called the Tanathi. She is a hunter and a very outspoken woman. Things go wrong from the beginning when a feared enemy is found not far from their camp. Halthris embarks on a journey that changes her completely. She sees new and exciting places and meets powerful people. As she is forced to help those who need her she comes face to face with sorcery and a war to claim the throne of the silver city, Zithirian. I could not put this book down. It is full of action and makes the perfect fantasy story with new languages and cultures that let you escape from our world today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 22 Aug 2007

Beware, that the other two books in this "series" are rather hard to get a hold of (and very expensive). But The Silver City can be read as a standalone novel, and I was extremely satisfied with it. Couldn't put it down most of the time - plenty of conflict, an interesting plot and well developed world and characters. It's a great read.
