5.0 out of 5 stars Insight into the 1920's, Enjoyable!, 18 Dec 2000
The Elliott sisters are left nearly destitute, after the death of there father. Rather than take hand outs from their aunt and cousin, they go looking for work. Beatrice becomes Jack Maddox's (a photographer) secretary/aide, and through him, they get the courage to start there own fashion house. With specactular results! With Evangeline, you get an insight into the welfare of the poor and homeless. This book is about struggle and detemination in the 1920's, when the womens Liberation was causing a stir in a predominant man's world! Love, betrayal, mysteries and the history of the era. This novel has it all! Highly Recommended!
