5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction To C Programming, 30 Jan 2002
I learnt to program C using this book a few years ago and found it to be excellent. The text is very easy to read and examples are clear whilst being concise - something some other books could certainly learn from. This book concentrates on the core C language and as such it will not teach you how to write a GUI or anything like that... everything is strictly command line based but that should give a good basis for anyone wanting to learn the language to move on to GUI development after this book or to move onto learning C++. The book is not tied to any platform or development environment so you should be equally able to use the book whether you are developing on Windows with Visual C or UNIX with GCC. There are exercises at the end of each chapter which I found to be mostly useful although some were a little too trivial to be worth doing. In gerneral though if you read through this book and test out your knowledge with the exercises you will be a reasonable C programmer by the end of it. Highly recommended.
