"From my investigation of the Ramsey murder, Steve Thomas was the lead detective on the case from the beginning and may know what happened better than anyone." --"Lawrence Schiller, New York Times bestselling author of Perfect Murder, Perfect Town"

I bought this book, along with "The Death Of Innocence", the Parents story. I have to say that whilst this book was an amazing insight into the complications of US Law, I was horrified to see what a miscarriage of justice has taken place over this case, and the failure to see why no-one has had the courage to take this case to a criminal court and place charges.
I have a strong feeling that someone, somewhere in all this is being "bought" by those who can afford to "buy" peoples co-operation.
But I wont play judge here. This is a great read, with the companion book, for a case which has not been tried, that the reader can make up their own mind on. A thrilling read. Makes you THINK.

This book is written by one of the actually investigators in the JonBenet murder case. He gives alot of insight into the case and the frustrations that were faced. I read every page gripped wondering how these things could have happened! AND I'm just talking about the investigation! A little girls murder was turned into a politic and media football! If all that Steve Thomas has written is true and in truth, I don't doubt it, then shame on the justice system!! I have now taken it upon myself to read other accounts of the JonBenet case so that I can get a balanced view. This includes reading the parents account too. Whatever happened to JonBenet, only her killer will ever be able to say but it's about time justice for JonBenet became the priority, NOT the politics!!!

Having been fascinated by the Jonbenet Ramsey case for a long time I decided to buy this book to give me an idea about what really happened. I found it very compelling in its detail which chronicles every step of the case and I think, though Steve Thomas is swayed towards the Ramsey parents being guilty, he has come to his conclusion through the evidence he helped to amass as a detective on the case and thus, a person with inside knowledge. Therefore I view it as an unbiased account from someone who simply dealt with hard facts. I would recommend this as THE book to read to start off with, simply because the author has a deeper insight into the case, having been part of the team attempting to solve it. I intend to follow it up by reading the Ramsey parents' account to balance it out as I have now being persuaded to believe one 'side' but I must point out that this book will leave feelings of anger and sadness but most of all huge frustration that the case is still unsolved and no one has yet been brought to justice.

Jonbenet - inside the murder investigation has to be the best book I have read on the subject. After following the case from the beginning and after reading many books on this subject, Steve Thomas is able to give us an insight that no-one else has. Being detective on this case for nearly 2 years his anger and frustrations clearly grow with you as you get further into this book and actually realise what the police had to put up with...I would defintely reccommend this book to anyone interested in the case.

This book grabs your attention right from the start and never lets go. Steve Thomas shows his dedication, his love of the job he held, and his determination to see this case through to the end. He also shows that he and his colleagues were on the losing team not only as far as catching a criminal who obviously didn't want to be caught, but also in getting the help and assistance of those who were supposed to be fighting from the same corner as him. I intend to read other authors to see a different perspective of all the things covered in this book, but feel that the insight I have gained from reading his views will definitely be a factor in who, if anyone, I personally decide had the most to gain from the injustices which flowed out of this case. Steve Thomas is to be applauded for writing this, for what it contains and for the way in which it is so compellingly presented. If sleep weren't so vital it would definitely have been read in one sitting.

This is a book which I read at least once a year - Along with the author it is so frustrating that no one has ever been brought to task for this murder.

Steve Thomas gives the full facts of the case enabling you to make your own mind up. All the evidence points in one direction but I will leave it up to you the reader to make your own mind up.

This is well written, fast paced and definitely a page turner.

BUY IT!

The author was a lead detective in the case, and as such, is able to offer an understanding of the case that few others can. He was convinced from the outset that Patsy Ramsey was the perpetrator - this is stated at the beginning of the book. The case against Patsy is gradually established throughout the account of how the investigation was conducted and the many astounding conflicts between the police and prosecutors, as well as the many disagreements within the various investigative factions themselves. It does also examine the intruder theories and review the evidence for them, but the focus is very much on Patsy Ramsey. It would spoil the book to say much more, but it's worth noting that I started out 80% certain that Patsy was innocent and by the end was 80% certain she was guilty. However, the reader discovers that little is absolutely certain in this case.

NB: it is probably also worth reading other books on this subject in order to gain a broad perspective of the case, as it is unlikely there will ever be a definitive solution. Incidentally, Patsy Ramsey died in 2006 of ovarian cancer. (Incidentally, several years after Patsy's death, John Ramsey made a TV interview in which he said that "the case was dead" - Freudian slip?)
