Gordon R. Dickson is not a well known Sci Fi writer, well he should be if he only wrote this book. Its amazing how he understands civilation, past, present & future. It only take a few people in a billion and its either the end or the begining, and this is what the final encyclopedia is all about. Choose between Hal who will use the final encyclopedia to help man kind or follow Blyes who only wants to control it, with the consequence of destruction of the human race. The caracters are so believable and you feel as if you are there. My recomendation would be to first read the Dorsai books which are the prequals to the Final Encyclopedia and you will have a collection of books you will want to read dagain every year and be able to.
