Treatment of biomechanical injuries has progressed greatly in the twenty-odd years since this book first appeared; the 'fixes' in this book are almost always orthotics - a stopgap at best, the route to a different injury at worst & never a long-term cure.
The book could almost be described as a piece of running nostalgia if the old-fashioned treatment techniques it contains weren't unfortunately still being peddled by those who make money from them.
Try books by Pete Egoscue, Kesh Patel or Gray Cook for a variety of approaches to muscle injuries. To prevent injuries occurring by correcting your running technique then Chi Running or The Pose Method are two of the most widely used.
