Weeping Women Hotel
Over the last few years I've read a lot of books written by comedians,and Gene Wilder falls into the category of comics who don't write "books of gags" - this is genuine literary fiction. I've linked to an Alexi Sayle book at the top of this review because I think he's the same.
Having read Wilder's earlier book "My French Whore" I was pleased to see another book from him. It's another good read. This is the story of an American Violinist who has a breakdown and is sent to Germany to recover in a sanitorium. I don't want to include any spoilers, but suffice to say, the book focuses on the relationship between our recovering musician and the woman from the title.
Although a little short, the book is funny and well written - I'd like to say whimsical. You can really imagine Gene Wilder reading this aloud.
One small point, the edition I purchased truly is a beautiful book - the way it has printed and bound is unusual - almost like rough cut pages have been used. The effect is to create an item that's a real pleasure to handle and read. One in the eye for the Kindle!

As with all my reviews, remmeber, if you have a toddler, buy my books!
