Product Description

Making Waves follows Hasselhoff's acting career from his early childhood role in Peter Pan to his highly acclaimed performance in Chicago in London's West End, and his new TV triumph in Simon Cowell's America's Got Talent. The wealth of inside information includes untold stories of his first marriage and his life as a TV star in Knight Rider and Baywatch. At times deeply personal, it also reveals his fight against drink that nearly drove him to destruction and the devastating motorbike accident in which his second wife Pamela was badly injured. The conclusion covers the reasons for the breakdown of their marriage. Described as a 'living legend', this fascinating book gives a new and moving insight into what it means to be the most watched TV star in the world. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is there no beginning to his talents?, 27 Sep 2006
By pint6x (Wiltshire) - See all my reviews
We, the unworthy public, are allowed an insight into the living legend that is David Hasselhoff. One cannot underestimate the gratitude which we should be showing.

David shares with us what it is like to be a globe-straddling supernova of a star - that this incredible individual is mere skin and bones like the rest of us may come as a surprise.

The 2nd division footballer's bubble perm, the carefully sculpted mullet, the medallion nestling in those chest hairs - it's all here.

I have sold most of my other books - for me there can be nothing more significant, I laughed, I cried, I broke wind - this book will have you questioning the very philosophy of life itself.

The song 'Hot Shot City' is particularly good.

4.0 out of 5 stars definitely very interesting book for his fans!, 21 Sep 2006
By Eveline "Eveline" (Brussels, Belgium) - See all my reviews
David Hasselhoff has a lot to tell in this 277 pages counting autobiography. He begins with his birth and introduces his parents and sisters. He also tells about the many pranks he did on his family, friends and at school.. He tells about his role in the Young and the Restless which he did for six years, his role in Knight Rider which lasted four years and his role in Baywatch for 11 years.

What touched me the most in this biography are the stories that David Hasselhoff shares about his visits to children in hospitals and the invitations to sick children to join him on the Knight Rider set. He fulfilled a lot of sick and dying children's (last) wishes and these stories were really sad most of the time but it was great to read that Mr Hasselhoff took time and really cared for these kids.

In his writing Mr Hasselhoff is very honest in portraying fellow actors or producers, friends, lovers and family. He tells it truthfully (as far as we can tell) but does not put people in a bad spotlight. He also explains his constant feeling of loneliness and the resulting drinking problem. David Hasselhoff was raised as a catholic and he learned not to judge people by their race, during his many visits to Africa and other countries he often discovered racism and apartheid and he mentions it a lot in his stories. Being so catholic the fact that his first marriage had broken off was a big thing for him to handle. But then his music career took off and he visited a lot of countries with his close friends and at home he had a lot of animals to keep him company. Baywatch and a new love soon followed.

The rather long chapters about Knight Rider, Baywatch and his music career are probably most interesting for true David Hasselhoff fans. They will find this a wonderful inspiring book that lets you meet the true David Hasselhoff. At times I felt like he was claiming a bit too much credit for his 'heroic' actions. But I think this is typical celebrity behaviour so I can accept it. I thoroughly enjoyed this autobiography!

5.0 out of 5 stars An insight into a legend, 12 Sep 2006
Never has an autobiography been so eagerly awaited. Never has one man been so googled. Here we have an insight into the heart and soul of a chap that we all love, admire and enjoy reading slightly bizarre e-mails about. My Hoff distribution list is longer than my Christmas Card list, I like to pride myself in being just one link in the chain that makes Mr Hasslehoff the King of the Internet. Now we are fortunate enough to be allowed an insider view into the fascinating (and surprisingly well written) world of the man that made Saturday nights in with your dad an ok thing to do (though my dad does still insist that he watched Baywatch for the exciting plot lines). Be prepared for the heart break of his doomed marriages, his valiant battle with the bottle, but above all, his unsinkable, contagious sense of humor. Here is the man we all wish we could sing Karaoke with. Long live The Hoff.
