4.0 out of 5 stars It does work if you stick to it, 16 Jan 2008
By Kelstar79 (Belfast, UK) - See all my reviews
This diet is extrme as the title suggests, however it is not impossible. There are some weird food combinations and you have to be imaginative when it comes to making the ingredients into something interesting. However saying that you can add condiments, herbs, spices etc and make it taste nice. I have just completed the 2nd cycle. week 1 I lost 6lbs! couldn't believe it. Cycle 2, nothing. Although I did snack a bit more and became a bit complacent. Just starting cycle 3 now.

It is not the easiest diet and you do have food cravings, but what diet is easy? I think this is a great kick start diet and let's face it, 3 weeks is not a long time. Give it a go and you will see results fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets Results Quick, 2 Jul 2009
By A. J. Johnson (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have done this diet a couple of times now and it really does deliver results - if you stick to it!

The book is very easy to follow and there is minimal weighing involved, all portions are roughly the size of your fist.

It is not a pleasant diet to do, you basically live off a diet of chickpeas, lentils, beans and veg with an occasional small portion of meat/eggs however due to having 4 small meals and 2 snacks a day you don't feel hungry.

You need to commit to doing 1 hour of cardio exercise per day so you need to be organised and plan your day around meal times and exercise, there is a daily planner in the book and it's easier if you prepare all meals the night before

You also need to consider the impact on your social life! It is impossible to go out for dinner and stick to this diet and you are only allowed 2 6 ounce glasses of wine per week - this was the bit I found the most difficult!

In all this diet is no walk in the park but it's great to do before a holiday or special occassion because you really can drop a stone in 4 weeks

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish!, 10 Feb 2009
I was expecting an extreme diet and was prepared for the hard work but this is totally unhealthy!

You are allowed to eat around 700 cals per day (less than half what a woman should eat per day) and must complete at least an hour of cardio exercise per day. I am amazed no one has died following this!

I stuck to the food part to the letter but with a 3 month old baby and a toddler managing to do that amount of exercise was never going to happen, I can't see many people managing to work out that much without eating a half decent amount anyway.

I lost 4lbs (nowhere near the amount it promised I would lose), ruined my skin (due to the lack of nutrients in the diet), became snappy with everyone as I was constantly hungry and mucked up my sleeping pattern.

I cannot stress enough how rubbish this diet is. I have never felt so unwell or miserable and I lost far more weight doing sensible healthy eating plans like weight watchers in the past.
