Bought the 1994 version of this book and found it invaluable when backpacking in 2005. Went again this year and wanted a more up to date version and was not disappointed. Used it for ideas of what to do and where to go and relied on the accomodation listings a few times. These were listed with the telephone numbers meaning we could phone and book in advance.
A good all round book covering the whole of Oz with a greater number of pages committed to the more popular areas eg Sydney.
The introduction has a wealth of information about basics such as getting around and we saved a fortune on car hire by using one of the firms listed here.
