Product Description

Product Description

It's summer and a violent attack on a doctor triggers a series of gay-bashing episodes. The Episcopalian priest Clare Fergusson and Police Chief Russ Van Alstyne, who has been carefully avoiding one another, are thrown together. Still fighting their mutual attraction, Russ rudely bars Clare from taking any part in dealing with the violent homophobia, and from contributing to the investigation. As the reluctant partnership continues, closeness becomes inevitable. The pair find that it's hard enough trying to solve a crime with an assortment of valid suspects; it's even harder to tamp down a powerful personal attraction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping up the Pace, 18 Sep 2008

I recently read Julia Spencer Flemings first book and enjoyed it, and have also enjoyed this one. It is not a fast paced thriller by any means but the storyline is good and the characters well drawn. In Clare we have a priest who manages to combine maintaining her Chrsitian faith along with human qualities that we can all identify with. The interplay between her and the chief of Police is good and I am sure this will be developed further in future novels. The plot moves along at a fast enough pace to keep you interested and the ending is good. I didn't guess a thing. I think I will be reading more by this author. I would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Pleasant Discovery, 21 Nov 2008
By Panic "Idiot's Guide" (Eastbourne, East Sussex United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I'd never heard of Julia Spencer-Fleming until I read 'A Fountain Filled With Blood' now I've bought all the books in the series. It raises the question of how a first-rate author can get exposure other than through word-of-mouth. The Rev Clare Ferguson mysteries are extremely well written and plotted which left me guessing - not something I can usually say as most 'mysteries' are anything but!! This is an author that deserves a look, I doubt that any new reader will be disappointed.
