The overly-curious Dido Hoare, single mother and antiquarian book-seller, again finds herself involved in sinister and frightening events. When her nanny's flat is burgled and and two supposed policemen arrive to investigate, Dido doubts threir crudentials. The murder of the nanny's husband begins the revelations of a dubious family background, and suspected police corruption makes it impossible to know who to trust.
With the help of her professor father, the nanny and a computer-wiz friend Dido runs her business whilst still getting deeply involved in things best left alone
