4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read if you love Alanis (like moi), 1 Feb 2004
This biography is well worth reading. It shows you just how hard it was for Alanis to become the established singer/songwriter she is now. Paul Cantin has given us a huge insight into the way she made her way to the top, and the mixture of highs and lows she experienced on route. We also get to "meet" the influential people she met on the way. Although, one criticism is that there is a little too much info about these people, and its lacking in comments from Alanis which makes the story just that bit more personal. However, if you really want to see Alanis at her best buy the DVD 'Feast on Scraps' because not only do you get to see her perform her music, you get to see her between performances being silly, and talking about her career and herself. She is an incredibly funny person, it certainly made me smile. Definately buy this book if you wish to know the real 'Alanis Morissette story'.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Alanis bio around!!, 23 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This is the best Alanis bio around. This book deserves so much more than just five stars! I have three different books about her and this one is the best. While the pics may be a little lacking the content is unbeatable. Anytime I need to look back on something in Alanis' life I use this as my sort of encyclopedia of her life. Paul has written numerous newspaper articles about Alanis, so we know what he says is the truth. If you want to know about Alanis' life, don't touch "Ironic", or "Death of Cinderella", get this one instead!

2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment, 11 Mar 2002
By A Customer
If you want to know the person behind the music, and what really makes her tick, then don't bother, this book won't tell you!

It tells you how long she spent writing and writing songs, searching for the right co-writer, and about a couple of the low points she hit in her life, but all in all, not very informative, except to say 'Alanis is wonderful' in a hundred different ways. It does fill you in on how she got started in being the successful artist she is now, but no intriguing insights.

Not what I was expecting. But if you're a mad hard core Morisette fan, you'll probably want this one on your book shelf anyway!
