Mac’s former editor, Jim Cranston, has been found wandering among the ruins of Machu Picchu with burns on his body and in a constant state of fear.

Worse yet, General Roswell, Mac’s inside connection in the secret government-alien cooperative, is dead of cancer. However, Roswell has left behind two potential bombshells: a set of files with far-reaching implications, and a link to the aliens that he has kept secret for years.

With Mac hot on Roswell’s trail, the Cadre moves forward with its agenda: to convince the world that Jesus was just an ordinary man granted miracle-working powers by the aliens. The Cadre must be stopped before they can publicly unveil the fraudulent body of Christ, an event that could precipitate a global and apocalyptic shock wave. Mac is swept into a race against time in which losing is not an option . . . but winning could cost him all.

I didn't enjoy "The Unholy Deception" as much as "Nephilim", the first book in what now looks like being a series. It suffers from Typical Sequel Syndrome; the characters and plot are much the same, the controversial subject matter which may be "factional" is now familiar and unshocking and at times the credibility of the storyline is stretched to breaking point. The plot continues where "Nephilim" left off; this time the excitement centres on the discovery of Jesus's preserved corpse in a Yemeni desert alongside various alien artifacts. The aliens and their collaborators on Earth intend to use this to deny Christ's divinity and further their sinister agenda. Can they be stopped ? Although this sounds very exciting , this promising scenario is let down by a dull, flat narrative , excessive "padding", bland characterisation, predictable action sequences and a highly unlikely and unbiblical plot. Why would Christians want to stop such "staged" events leading to the Rise of the Antichrist and Armageddon anyway if the Bible states that these events must come to pass before the Second Coming of Jesus ? Maybe Art MacKenzie, Johanen, the Ben Hassens et al have got it wrong - should they not be allowing the aliens a free hand instead of fighting them ?
