2.0 out of 5 stars An Early Step towards Agile, 22 Jun 2009
This book proposes a methodology called Systemscraft which was basically prototyping-meets-SSADM. It recognises rapid prototypes, which were written quickly and then discarded, and Evolutionary ones, which are carried through to the final system but not started until much more design groundwork had been done. Whilst that's a bit tentative by today's agile standards, most of the book is about hierarchical function diagrams , DFDs, data models etc. Crinnion does put forward the case for data-driven (rather than process driven) designs but the actual text reverts to SSADM. Needless to say there is no mention of the nascent object oriented revolution.

This is of interest if you are researching the history of agile, but otherwise comes very much from another era.
