to making compost to have a go and realise what a rewarding task this is
for the gardener
--This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Product Description
Everybody knows that to be a successful gardener you need compost but not everybody knows how to make it or indeed how easy it is to make. It doesn't just come in bags from the garden centre, it doesn't have to smell like a farmyard and it doesn't cost a penny. This book demystifies the art of composting. Furthermore, Clare Foster shares her allotment wisdom, teaching new composters how to garden with their new miracle plant food. With some egg shells, grass cuttings, old banana skins and some help from mould, insects and nature, you can improve your soil, cut down on weeds and get more from your flowers and vegetables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compost made easy, 15 Feb 2006
This review is from: Compost (Paperback)
This book takes some of the fear out of making compost. A compost pile does not have to be a slimy pile of rotting vegetable matter at the bottom of your garden. It can be a thing of beauty, which restores order to your garden and also helps to cure some of the problems that build up over time in garden soil. Think of well made compost as being a bottle of natural antibiotics for Mother Nature.
This book is easy to understand and follow the guidance. There is no gobbledegook in it and all the science contained has been explained in a clear manner. There are diagrams to help you build various types of compost bins and wormeries so there is something for all gardeners who wish to start making their own “Black Gold”

5.0 out of 5 stars Compulsory reading for gardeners!!!, 16 Mar 2008
This review is from: Compost (Paperback)
This an excellent and easy text to read. Don't expect lots of pretty pictures mind you. There are, however, a good amount of clear good quality diagrams to clarify info for you.
The books a nice friendly size for the garden shed too.
