5.0 out of 5 stars A blow-by-blow description of the battle., 28 Aug 2001
By A Customer
A reasonably detailed account of the run-up, battle and sinking of the Scharnhorst. Although the book takes you on a chronological journey, it does sometimes depart from it's story to offer an opinion from a different point of view. This combined with narratives included from other eye-witnesses demands higher than normal levels of concentration when reading this work. Small elements of naval terminology (which are never explained), do tend to interrupt the story. Having said that, I enjoyed reading this book, and in fact read the whole book in just 2 days.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but technical mistakes, 17 Jan 2002
By James Harmon "harmonj14" (Shannon, Co Clare) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
On Page 2 her length is given as 770 feet. All my reference books vary from 740 to 753 feet. Her guns 280mm; 150mm and 105mm are all given wrong calibres when converted to imperial measurements. Just encountering those factual inaccuracies on Page 2 leaves me wondering about the accuracy of the remainder of the book which is a very interesting one.
