Book Description
Vija Celmins (b. 1939), best known for her intensely realistic paintings and drawings, has been engaged with printmaking since the early 1960s, creating a refined body of graphic work. As a printmaker, Celmins relies on traditional intaglio, lithographic, and relief processes to produce quiet scenes of ocean surfaces, desert floors, and star-filled night skies that are highly modern in their denial of conventional composition.

This stunning book, a catalogue of Celmins’s graphic work to date, also features an interview with the artist and two of her closest collaborators, master printers Leslie Miller and Doris Simmelink, in which the significance of Celmins’s print oeuvre is discussed.
