This is a really wonderful, unique book.
It is lovely and glossy, like a coffee table art book, EXCEPT that the text is perhaps more wonderful than the images. This book is an inciteful and original look at how colour and culture inform one another. I read it while living for 3 months in Venice and found I was seeing the city THROUGH the lens of this book. I then passed it on to visitors, who became equally mezmerized by it. This book is engagingly written, scholarly, and, in my opinion, a unique and important contribution to the existing art historical analysis of Venitian art.
well worth the asking price, a gem!
