3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but not engrossing, 21 Jul 2003

Not a bad book by any means yet although this book is full of facts and stories as well as excellent photographs and diagrams it is missing that critical element that keeps me engrossed in a history.

That said, the pictures and diagrams and prints combined with other works on the Knights of Malta make for interesting reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars A wounderland of basic themes., 28 Jul 2001
By A Customer
This book offers a great visual feast for the new reader in the Order. The clever way in which it brings together complicated issues and many years of history into a digestable form clearly shows thought and understanding on the part of the writer. There is, however, a lack of depth required by those studying at degree level and the lack of documentry evidence worried me a little. This forced me to 'take a pinch of salt' to some of the interpretations offered. Over all a commendable piece well worth investing into.
