4.0 out of 5 stars Immanentise the Revolution in a Spirit of Artistic Forwardness, Comrades!, 1 Feb 2003
By Andy Dingley "andy_dingley" (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
A history of the printed poster and handbill as a tool of Bolshevik propaganda from the earliest roots in Russian culture, through to pre-revolutionary stirrings and the state's early beginnings and exhortations to Heroic Labour.

It stops a little abruptly, around the time of Lenin's death. As a keen student of Soviet Constructivist art, I'd have liked to see it span a slightly wider period in more depth and give more of a context to other artistic groups in the post-revolutionary Soviet Union, particularly the Constructivists.
