5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and imformative, a must read., 10 Jul 2001
By nm01eh@surrey.ac.uk (Hampshire, England) - See all my reviews
This book is a definite must read for all those working with people with learning disabilities. Although staff attitudes to people with learning disabilities have vastly improved, bereavement is still often swept under the carpet. Clients are often expected to snap out of it and are 'jollyed' along. Maurren Oswin uses productive criticism to carefully identify the real needs of this client group during periods of bereavement, emphasising on the much lacked use of sensitivity. This is a true eye opener to causes and aspects of bereavement that had never even crossed my mind. A practical guide eith plenty of facts and advice mixed with real life stories and experiences. An excellent read which is truly educational.
