Product Description

Review

Exploring Corporate Strategy is one of the outstanding texts in international management education. It combines clarity of structure and presentation with topical and enduring examples. It also has a depth of synthesis and critical reflection based on relevant research which is rare in text books.
Andrew Pettigrew, University of Bath, School of Management, United Kingdom

Exploring Corporate Strategy is strong at integrating theory and practice … has an international perspective both in its theoretical coverage and its empirical illustrations and cases … is comprehensive and easy to combine with further theoretical readings.
Leif Melin, Jonkoping International Business School, Sweden

The 7th edition of this textbook offers yet another step in improvement both in the area of student support and its overall coverage. In particular the website is easily accessible, user friendly and provides a range of supplementary resources to engage and reinforce students' understanding of this complex area of study.
John Toth, Leeds Business School, Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom

Exploring Corporate Strategy strikes a balance because it provides sound methodology and analysis, cleverly combined with a well-reasoned introduction to more contemporary paradigms. Thoughtful use of figures and tables provides clarity for students; the detailed cases are ideal for teaching purposes.
Gerard Betros, University of Southern Queensland, Australia

5.0 out of 5 stars Exploring Corporate Strategy, 6 April 2005
By A. Robins "robins492" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
By far the best book in the field I have ever read! It uses colour, pictures and graphics generously. It reads well. It makes the study of Strategy interesting! I used to find it such a dull subject, but Johnson & Scholes relate theory to real-life examples which are up to date with current business news. I would most certainly recommend this book to anyone, whether they are studing the subject for exam purposes or simply out of interest! The on-line features are excellent as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making The Study of Strategy Interesting, 9 Jan 2006
By A Customer
I found this book to be invaluable during the Strategic Management module of my DMS. Not only was it informative, but it actually made the subject interesting (a course text book that is hard to put down!?!). The case studies are in themselves of interest and they relate very nicely to the concepts that are introduced. During my written assignment (which I passed easily) I drew heavily on the concepts and ideas introduced in this publication, which includes a wide variety of references from other recognised authors that I also found very useful.
Now I am studying for the Marketing module of my DMS, and this book is even helping with this, as it helps relate strategy to marketing.
I think anyone taking a DMS or MBA will find this book invaluable.
