- Yaw Busia, University of Middlesex

E-Business and E-Commerce Management explores:

  • the relationship between e-business, e-commerce and e-marketing
  • the new business models of the digital economy through B2B and B2C case studies
  • the strategic approaches to change management used to achieve e-business in the global marketplace
  • the application of electronic communications to elements of the value and supply chain, including procurement, logistics, marketing and CRM
  • the practical challenges of implementing e-business.

This book is accompanied by a regularly updated companion website that hosts additional lecturer and student materials, such as powerpoint slides, additional case studies, multiple choice questions and web links.

"The level of referencing and mix of materials used is far better than any of the competing texts I have seen. Activities in the text clearly guide the reader through a range of valuable activities, gathering and analysing key information resources for the e-environment. E-Business and E-Commerce explains a complicated topic in clear language, drawing on key thinking and research" - Steve Wood, Lecturer, School of Business Information - Liverpool John Moores University

Dr. Dave Chaffey lectures in E-business at the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds and Warwick and is the Managing Director of Marketing Insights Limited – an E-business Training and Consulting company.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent text from a true craftsman, 25 Feb 2002
By G. R. Brooks "brooksie1946 - photgraphy addict" (Benidorm, Spain) - See all my reviews

Whether a practicing professional, an academic or a student, this book provides an excellent overall insight into the world of E-Business. Whilst one or two areas do assume some prior knowledge, none the less, the author has provided a succinct and comprehensive coverage of all the major topics and elements that make up E-Business.
There are excellent examples provided to illustrate points made and topics discussed.
The B2B case study that runs throughout the text with self assessment exercises in every chapter for the reader to apply the learning from each chapter is a superb idea and provides the reader with the opportunity to synthesize their knowledge as they progress through the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent academical book, 20 Nov 2003

As someone studying for a degree in eCommerce, this book on the management side of the discipline was very useful. Not only would it be useful to eCommerce students, but also to general I.T. and business students as well as non-academical people wanting to gain an understanding of how eCommerce and eBusiness is managed by the companies of today.

3.0 out of 5 stars An integrated but confusing first effort, 13 Mar 2006
By Andreas (Greece) - See all my reviews
The most annoying thing in a book, is telling you to see forward, without having explained the concept before. Imagine the case that you are a student, and that this is the main course textbook. -What do you do then?
Listen potential buyer, this book is very good, by the fact that it explains in an as much thorough way possible new concepts of e-business and e-commerce, but what is the point, if its mixing things up (organizational restructuring), or telling you again and again that this will happen in two chapters and 10 pages forward. I keep going back and forth, trying to focus my attention in one chapter that continuously tells me to look elseware.
Despite that, I think David Chaffey did a very good work as a first effort to introduce the concepts, but as far as a key college textbook, I would be rather careful!
